Spelling and Phonics

You can also help your spelling by reading as much as possible. It helps you visualize the words as you hear them, and they are easier to recall later. A love of books is one of the best ways for children to learn to read and continue reading!

Syllable Rules Charts

When playing a "guess the word" game like Hangman,  you may want to try guessing a vowel - at least one of them can be found in every word!

A (example: bat)
(example: pet)
(example: kite)
(example: boat)
(example: fun)
sometimes Y
(example: fly / lucky)

Additional note from Victoria, one of our visitors:
"w" is also sometimes a vowel. Like in "owl."

The Alphabet

The alphabet contains 26 letters to help create words.  We also use the alphabet to sot a list of items in alphabetical order - which means sorting them in the order of the alphabet.  When we sort things in alphabetical order, other people can easily find items in our list.

Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff Gg Hh Ii Jj Kk Ll Mm Nn Oo Pp Qq Rr Ss Tt Uu Vv Ww Xx Yy Zz
